In 1799 Elijah Wadsworth built a house on South Street which later became the home of Oliver Wolcott. Jr., governor of Connecticut from 1817 to 1827. This historic building, with its attractively integrated contemporary wing designed by noted architectural firm Noyes Associates, now houses the Oliver Wolcott Library.
