January

1   Museum Closed - Happy New Year

  8   Winter Botany with John Markelon. Hands-on activities will introduce the technique of keying out trees in winter. Be prepared to go outdoors. 2 p.m. in the Arthur B. Cedars Meeting Room.

Cross Country Skiing15   Winter Scenes slide show with Ray Packard. Experience Ray's beautiful nature photography of White Memorial and other Connecticut locations in winter. 2 p.m. in the Arthur B. Cedar Meeting Room.

22   Children's Story Hour for Pre-Schoolers - Join Bunny Mosakowski for a story and related craft in the Museum Children's Corner, or outdoors if weather permits. Limit: 10 children. Pre-registration necessary. Meet in the Museum at 10 a.m.

29   Catlin Woods Wildlife with David Rosgen. Walk or slide show, depending upon the weather. 2 p.m. in the Arthur B. Cedar Meeting Room.

 

February

5   Winter Wildlife Tracking with John Markelon. Find and interpret evidence of wildlife on snow layering. Dependent upon snow cover. Be prepared to go outdoors. 2 p.m. in the Arthur B. Cedar Meeting Room.

12   Children's Story Hour for Pre-Schoolers - Join Bunny Mosakowski for a story and related craft in the Museum Children's Corner, or outdoors if weather permits. Limit: 10 children. Pre-registration necessary. Meet in the Museum at 10 a.m.

19   Winter Resident Birds with Bob Barbieri. Visit the bird blind, Museum deck, and other locations to view year-round residents and birds that migrate here for the winter. Great for beginning birders. Meet in front of the Museum at 9 a.m.

22   Children's Vacation Day Program - Call the Museum for details.

26   Bantam Lake Waterfowl with David Rosgen. Driving tour or slide show, depending upon the weather. 2 p.m. in the Arthur B. Cedar Meeting Room.

 

March

4   Dragons & Dinosaurs with Kate Allen and Winslow Gilman. Meet and learn about different species of reptiles. 2 p.m. in the Arthur B. Cedar Meeting Room.

11   Wonderful Wildflowers - Get ready for spring at a slide show presented by Jean and Bob Seymour. 2 p.m. in the Arthur B. Cedar Meeting Room.

18   Planet Earth: The Perfect Home - Slide show with Debbie Martin. This multi-media show includes colorful slides accompanied by music of Yo Yo Ma, and others. Originally for children, this program is wonderful for all ages. 2 p.m. in the Arthur B. Cedar Meeting Room.

25   Helping Bluebirds and Cavity Nesters with David Rosgen. Slide show followed by walk. 2 p.m. in the Arthur B. Cedar Meeting Room.

Museum Hours:
Monday through Friday - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday - 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.   Sunday - 12 Noon to 4:00 p.m.
